Our ethical sourcing story

Beautiful hair should come with honest answers.

From temple-related hair auctions in India to independent supplier networks, Tressmont believes better sourcing begins with knowing what can—and cannot—be verified.

We supply Indian human hair to individual customers, salons, brands, and international wholesale buyers. We believe you deserve to understand the origin of the hair you buy, not just its length, color, or finish.

01 · Where hair enters our supply chain

Indian temples and temple-linked channels

Hair offering is a longstanding practice at some Indian temples. Hair collected through these channels may be sold at auction and then pass through specialist traders, processors and manufacturers. Tressmont sources hair through temple auction-related channels as well as aggregators and other third-party suppliers.

Temple origin is not asserted for every item in the catalogue. We confirm the available origin details for the specific lot being discussed.

02 · How we work with intermediaries

Suppliers, invoices and traceability

Our existing evidence includes supplier declarations or invoices and origin or traceability records. For an order, we can discuss which of these records are available and what they actually establish.

A supplier invoice is a record of a commercial transaction, not proof of the original donor's consent or a complete, independently verified chain of custody.

What “ethically sourced” means to us

Ethical sourcing is a commitment to responsible purchasing, transparent communication and improving documentation—not a certification that we claim all our hair has already achieved. We seek to work with identifiable suppliers, ask origin questions, avoid making unsupported claims and explain limitations when records do not reach the original collection point.

Our current evidence does not independently establish donor consent, donor compensation, third-party labor audits or certification across every upstream supplier. We will not represent it as doing so. Where buyers require additional verification, we discuss that requirement before an order is placed.

03 · Understanding hair grades

Origin is not the same as quality grade

Indian hair can be raw, processed, Remy or non-Remy depending on the lot. Remy refers to cuticle alignment; raw generally refers to limited chemical treatment. The words are not interchangeable and are not proof of an ethical supply chain.

We invite buyers to examine sample photos, feel, texture, length distribution and available processing details before ordering.

04 · What we can provide

Questions we welcome

  • Which supplier and origin records are available for the proposed batch?
  • Is temple provenance documented or merely indicated by the supplier?
  • What processing, dyeing or texture work has been performed?
  • Can I inspect product photographs or request a sample?
  • Is additional third-party documentation required before I buy?

A more transparent way to buy Indian hair.

Our aim is to make each enquiry specific: the actual product, the available records, the appropriate sample and the written quotation. We would rather identify an unknown than imply a guarantee we cannot substantiate.
